Phoenix Reloaded
Things were different for Jean this time. After being resurrected by the Phoenix, Jean noticed that things were different this time around. The world was different, she was different. After merging with the Phoenix to find all of their pieces, she didn’t think anything would ever be the same. She kept having flashes of her previous life, of who she’s met and what she’s done.
Coming from that Heaven back to Earth was slowly tearing Jean apart but only she knew it. She didn’t want to be worrying anyone because some of what she’s dealing with isn’t just a mutant problem. Its more on a cosmic level, after all, the Phoenix was a child of the Universe. A being that was around from near the beginning of the Universe. What could she do now with her life when she could just as easily destroy the planet that she now lived on once again?

Return and Reunion - Jean & Logan
“Maybe.” Jean grinned. Going to a bar sounded like a good idea at the time. Maybe some of that awkward tension would go away with a couple of drinks. Besides, when was the last time she let her hair down, so to speak? It all seemed so long ago. So much had happened, so much was left unsaid. Maybe now, with her new life, she should focus more on herself now instead of trying to save everyone.“We should catch up. A lot has happened here lately.” Jean smiled, almost sadly as she remembered flashes of what happened. Most of them not at all pleasant and then there were somethings that were very pleasant. Jean tried not to think about Logan during those flashbacks but in the end, her mind went back to the man beside her. It was unfair, really. To see something forbidden and she couldn’t act upon it but maybe now, things would be different.
“Maybe.”
Well, some things didn’t change. Jean was the same as always- never completely certain one way or the other. There was always something holding her back- whether it was an obligation to someone else or even her own feelings, her own sense of restraint. She was full of ‘maybes’… Even though it made Logan feel as though he was going insane sometimes, he recognized it for what it was- and, hell, a ‘maybe’ was a whole lot better than a ‘no’.
“Seems like it,” he agreed, glancing around the empty kitchen. The mansion itself hadn’t changed, but everyone living in it seemed different. It had been a long time since he had last stepped through that door- he had a lot of catching up to do.
“Why don’t I get you to that bar of yours and you can tell me all about it?”
He suggested, standing up and taking a deep breath. He wondered what was different about the mutants living here, about Jean… If the rumors were really true… Well, there was only one way to find out. And luckily that involved a drink to make it all a little easier to handle.
Jean pondered it for a few seconds before making her decision. When Logan stood up, she smiled and sat there for a couple of seconds. She hoped to make him at least a little nervous before saying yes. After all, she didn’t want to seem too eager that she was with him. Call it a woman’s pride. Besides, she wanted to take this a bit slow until she could fully get used to being back there again. After all, she had died and was forcefully resurrected by the Phoenix.
Jean stood up finally and smiled at him. It struck her suddenly about how Logan seemed to be a little different since the last time that she saw him. She couldn’t put her finger on it. It seemed to be something different about his appearance that she didn’t see before. She was too enthralled by seeing him for the first time in a while that she didn’t notice it. Jean snapped herself out of her thoughts and and brought herself to the here and now and not up in the air.
“I just have to go get changed first. I’m not exactly in the right clothes.” Jean sheepishly said to Logan. She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and suddenly looked down at the ground. Nervousness. It always happened around him.
